The Fall

It was a life time ago,
When you and I were no more than skin with faces.
You thought me demon.
I thought you pompous.
We would dance among the tides of blood and war.
But out of no pleasure toward each other.
You feared my position.
The evil I could herald.
You talked to much.
I retreated my hand from yours,
Every time you stretched.
I'd recoil.
Your colours were too bright,
I was too used to the dark.
I denied any help.

And that day when the fires turned their hottest.
and the hope seeped from the hourglass for the last time.

This is only when we realised what we were,

Brothers.

I died to show you this is what I was.
What I wanted to be.
Not demon,
But Human.
I gave my life for it,
I'd do it again.


As the burning consumed the hair from our skin
The tears shed were not ones of pain,
but love.
